An annual tradition, The Steel Horse Rally Thunder Through the Valley Motorcycle Parade, has grown to thousands of motorcycles and grows larger each year. The 2018 parade will stage starting at Fort Smith Park at 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 5th, 2018. We will take the Big Group Photo at 3:45 p.m. and go kickstands up at 4 p.m. The route will travel along Riverfront Drive following the Arkansas River before turning and heading downtown, going underneath a huge American flag and ending on Garrison Ave.
The parade is open to all kinds of motorcycles. The event is free to all participants, although donations to the Steel Horse Rally Inc. charity are encouraged. During the parade, some streets and driveways will be blocked off, so please follow the instructions of law enforcement officers that will be directing traffic in some areas. Enjoy the scenic ride by the Arkansas River into the heart of Fort Smith filled with lots of people, then park your motorcycle in the middle of Garrison Avenue and enjoy the vendors, entertainment and more at the 2018 Steel Horse Rally.
How to get to get to the Parade Staging Area at Fort Smith Park:
From the Vendor Village at 800 Garrison Ave. in Fort Smith, take Garrison Ave. west and turn right onto 2nd St. (right before you get to the bridge that crosses over the Arkansas River into Oklahoma). Go two blocks and turn left onto B St. Turn right onto Riverfront Drive and follow Riverfront Drive for about 10 miles until your see Fort Smith Park on your left. Turn into the park main driveway by the sign and follow the instructions of where to park your bike for parade line up.
The Parade Route: Steel Horse Rally Thunder Through the Valley Motorcycle Parade
The Parade will begin at Fort Smith Park and will turn right onto Riverfront Drive. The parade will turn left onto A St., turn right on 13th St. and turn right onto Garrison Ave. There will be motorcycle parking in the middle of Garrison Avenue and along Garrison Ave (and other nearby streets).
